About Big Cake Bake

This October we’re calling on you to get together with family, friends and colleagues to help bake the world a better place.

Big Cake Bake is a fun and easy way to make a difference to the lives of people in need. Simply by hosting a morning tea, cake sale, workplace bake off, or a cake decorating competition you’ll be helping people overcome crisis in Australia and beyond.

Join us and your fellow home cooks on the official event date, Friday 27 October 2017. If you’re busy that day, just make sure you can hold your event any time throughout October.

Every day Red Cross helps people overcome crisis in Australia and beyond – whether that’s helping build healthy communities, giving someone a safe place to stay, or supporting people  as they recover from an emergency. By getting together with friends to enjoy a slice of cake and a cuppa, you’ll be raising money to help Red Cross continue its vital everyday work.

Thank you for baking a difference for thousands of people in need.

Mole & Sovereign

“Our small branch, the Mole and Sovereign Rivers Red Cross holds a cake stall once a year in September. Luckily this coincided with the Big Cake Bake this year so we all put in a great effort.

Because our members live an average of 50km west of our nearest town, Tenterfield, we rely on a few members to deliver the cakes to town. I usually drive in with a real carload!

There is no room for passengers – just sponge cakes, bottles of marmalade, trays of Anzac biscuits, chocolate slice and dozens of eggs.

It always amazes me how many people say they have come especially just because they know we will be there. We also hold a wood raffle – always popular in a cool town like Tenterfield!

The Cheesecake Shop Mandurah

“We were excited about The Cheesecake Shop’s sponsorship of Big Cake Bake, as we are always looking for ways to support the community.

At The Cheesecake Shop Mandurah, we saw this as a great opportunity to get involved and share our sweet treats with the local community while helping to raise much needed funds to assist those in need.

Running across a week in August, we had a stall in our local shopping centre where we sold cupcakes for a gold coin donation. Our effort managed to raise more than $3,500 for Red Cross.

We are thankful to the community of Mandurah for getting behind this worthy cause and to Red Cross for giving us the opportunity to be part of this great event.”

Reload Media

“As a company we are always looking to get involved in key charity events throughout the year. So as soon as we found out about Big Cake Bake, our whole company wanted to get involved by hosting a “bake-off” competition where contestants paid an entry fee to compete, or just to eat, both greatly assisting our fundraising efforts.

We found that everyone really got into this event as it was fun, easy to get involved in and simple to collect funds online.

This event has been one to remember and we thank Red Cross for giving us the opportunity to be part of such a great event! Reload Media will definitely be participating in the next event where the Big Cake Bake bake-off champion title will again be up for grabs.”

“On Friday 24th August 2012, Moraitis Group took part in ‘Big Cake Bake’ supporting Australian Red Cross in raising funds to assist people in need.

I was the Team Captain for the Fresh Packaging division in Victoria and the bake sale kicked off at 3:00am in the Melbourne Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Markets with an assortment of cakes, cookies and sweets presented for all customers to purchase as a donation to Red Cross.

A stand was set up outside the Moraitis market stall, which turned out to be a huge success from the many generous customers supporting the cause by generously dipping into their pockets.

We then set up another fundraiser in the Moraitis warehouse (which is also located at the Melbourne Markets) with all of our employees who kindly spent the night before baking up a storm for our morning tea. What an amazing effort by all Moraitis staff!

After 8 hours of stopping forklifts in their path, nagging, screaming, harassing and walking the market grounds following workers for donations, a total of $3,400.00 was raised. It was an amazing effort by all Moraitis staff. Well Done Moraitis Victoria.”
